Phuentsholing- The Gateway To Bhutan | Sightseeing

Phuntsholing, also called Phuentsholing , is a border town in southern Bhutan. Phuentsholing adjoins the Indian town of Jaigaon, and cross-border trade has a thriving local economy. If you visit Phuntsholing you will be pleasantly surprised as the ambience is completely opposite of Jaigaon just across the border.

About PHUENTSHOLING- THE GATEWAY TO BHUTAN

Phuentsholing is a bustling border town in Bhutan, located on the southern edge of the country, adjacent to the Indian town of Jaigaon in West Bengal. It serves as one of the main gateways to Bhutan for travelers from India and other countries. Phuentsholing lies at the foothills of the Himalayas.  The town marks the convergence of Bhutan's natural beauty and India's vibrant cultural exchanges.  Phuentsholing is a key commercial center for Bhutan, facilitating trade with India.

Phuentsholing serves as the entry point for travelers entering Bhutan via road. Indian nationals, who do not require a visa, can process their entry permits here. The town is a starting point for exploring Bhutan's interior regions, including Thimphu, Paro, and Punakha.

Phuentsholing is well-connected by road to nearby Indian cities like Siliguri (about 160 km) and Kolkata (700 km). The nearest railway station is Hasimara (17 km), and the closest airport is Bagdogra (about 170 km).
